On Monday 20 February 2012, The Foundation for Arable Research (FAR) relocated to its new office space on Maddison Park, an idyllic setting on the outskirts of Templeton, just 14 kms west of Christchurch city and just 14 kms south-west of Christchurch Airport. The move came following a vacation notice from the Landlord of 2 Marion Place, Lincoln, FAR’s home for the last eight years.
Previously zoned for education purposes, Maddison Park owner, Rookwood Holdings, has been working with local council on re-zoning the site for business purposes. “On developing the site they wished to protect and retain the mature trees and create an open park-like environment which they have maintained to a very high standard” says Nick Pyke, FAR CEO. “Rookwood Holdings has been exceptional in meeting our requirements in terms of office space and have worked endlessly over the past month to make the environment confortable for staff, and welcoming for our visitors. FAR now has the privilege to use on-site meeting facilities including a lecture theatre, a hall that can accommodate in excess of 200 people, a fully functional lab and a fantastic outlook of trees and parkland, something not to be taken for granted following the recent events in Christchurch.”
Although FAR will be operating outside of Lincoln, FAR will maintain close working relationships with the science based organisations which continue to operate there.
