Levy

In accordance with section 11 (1) of the Commodity Levies (Arable Crops) Order 2006, the Foundation for Arable Research has determined the rate of the levy for 2010 remain the same at:

  • Maize - 90c per 10,000 seeds purchased.
  • Herbage and amenity seed - 0.8% of sale value.
  • All other grain and seed crops (cereals, pulses etc) - 0.8% of sale value.
  • Open pollinated vegetable seed crops – 0.8% of sale value.
  • Hybrid vegetable seed crops – 0.5% of sale value.
  • Onion seed crops will be zero rated.

It is compulsory for growers to pay the levy on all grain and seed grown (except maize), at the time that it is sold or used on farm (eg fed to stock, whether whole or processed).
